Product Claim: Earn Money Online By Completing Competitions, Offers & Surveys. No Skills Needed.
20 Cogs Overview
This is a rewards site which pays its members for completing a range of competitions, offers and games. Please note that this is a purely UK based site and is not available for people outside of the UK.
You can typically earn £100 or more when completing the 20 cogs (Levels).
This is not an on-going work from home opportunity. So even though I have put this review under the heading How to Earn Extra Cash From Home it is purely a one-off. Once you have completed all 20 cogs (Levels) you will be paid out shortly afterwards and that’s the end of it. Unless you refer some friends, then you can sign up to the Refer A Friend program where you will earn 5% of everything they earn and when they complete their 20 cogs and cash out you will also get a £20 bonus payment.
The company gets commission on new members registering with their retailers – once you have done this they do not benefit from you any further which is why you are only allowed to complete the 20 cogs cycle once.
How 20 Cogs works..
You sign up online with a simple process, and not much information is requested. Just the usual full name, email address and make up a password.

After signing up you can look through the 20 cogs which are basically the Levels – these are full of competitions, offers, games and surveys from top industry-leading brands such as a free trial with Amazon.
Each cog has a variety of offers which you can choose from – you MUST complete at least one offer from each cog, but the more you complete the more money you make. When all 20 cogs are complete and have turned green you can cash out your reward money and that’s pretty much the end of it.
Be aware that after you complete a cog it will turn amber – it can take up to 2 working days to turn amber but you don’t need to wait for it to change before moving on to the next cog.
Advertisers then doublecheck that you have completed your offers fully and by the rules and it can take up to 30 days for them to confirm that you have – be aware that your cogs will remain amber for that period until the confirmation is put through.
When your work has been confirmed the cog will turn green and your reward is added to your 20 Cogs Member Account – remember when all 20 cogs are green you can cash out!
A claim button will appear when all of your 20 cogs have turned green, that is when you can request your payment via BACS or PayPal. It takes just a few working days for the money to be in your account.
The Good:
- Easy money
- Quick payment by BACS or PayPal
- Efficient Support Team/Help Desk on hand to sort out issues in less than 24 hours.
- Completely FREE to join
- Could earn up to a maximum of £700
The Not So Good:
- Restricted to UK residents only
- Can only complete the 20 Cogs once
- Some retailers ask for a deposit of your own money before allowing you to complete their offers, but the Reward you get back is always bigger
- May have to commit to a 7 day trial of the Retailer’s Subscription Service, just remember to cancel on the 7th day!!!
- Cannot cash out unless you complete all 20 Cogs
- Some negativity last year around a scam lotto company being one of the retailers but in fairness to 20 Cogs they handled it really well and disassociated from them sharpish.
Who is 20 Cogs Aimed At?
- You must be over the age of 18
- Resident in the UK
- Anybody who wants to earn an easy, one-off cash injection – so pretty much everybody and anybody.
All That Glitters is Not Gold…
There are a few things to watch out for that you may not be entirely comfortable with:
Many of the offers have no charge however there are some where the retailer asks you to sign up for a free trial or subscription. You don’t have to sign up or continue unless you want to – as long as you have fulfilled the T’s & C’s of that specific offer your cog will update to complete.
An example of this could be that you are offered a Free 7 Day Trial which must be signed up to for the full 7 days to meet the criteria of completing that cog – now you must stay a member for the FULL 7 DAYS and cancel it on the 7th day if you don’t actually want the subscription otherwise you have failed to complete that cog.
My advice would be to set an alarm on your mobile phone for the 7th day to make sure you don’t forget about any subscriptions. And contact the retailer directly to cancel, not 20 Cogs as they don’t have anything to do with subscriptions or offers.
Make sure you read the full Terms & Conditions for every offer before you sign up to the retailer for anything – this way you wil avoid any unexpected charges.
Some offers ask you for a deposit to allow you to continue and complete their offer – usually the Bingo or Casino companies. But the 20 Cogs rule is that they must make sure that the Reward received outweighs the money you have spent. 20 Cogs advise you to contact the Help Desk if there is an occasion when this doesn’t happen.
There were some complaints about a particular company last year called Rebel Lotto who was one of their Retailers – they got users to sign up for a £1 trial of a subscription for Euro Millions Numbers and when some of them tried to cancel the subscription before the trial expired they couldn’t get hold of anybody.
They took the £5 per week from the accounts of these people and they had an awful job cancelling it because it was done via bank card not Direct Debit. 20 Cogs disassociated themselves from the company fairly quickly and put out a notice to apologise for their mistake.
My Verdict:
I have graded this a 3/5 because there are so many success stories but some negativity around the whole experience too.
Yes, it’s an opportunity to make a one-off sum of money – BUT (this is a big BUT), it sounds like some people who have been on-line trying to earn money from home previously have registered with some of these same retailers directly before. If this is the case, those retailers will not accept you during 20 Cogs because you won’t be a new customer to them.
Those people have found that they get three quarters of the way through and then hit a Cog where all of the Retailer offers or competitions are with companies they’ve registered with before and they can go no further. Don’t forget – unless you complete all 20 Cogs you get NOTHING! All of your time is wasted.
On a more positive note, 20 Cogs claim to have paid out over £1.8m to their registered users since the company began, I’m not sure when that was as there doesn’t seem to be a record of it but their parent company was set up in 2002.
There are a lot of rave reviews online about positive experiences where people have run through the 20 cogs and got their money without problem and I think if a company realises there’s a problem with one of their partners and deals with it immediately then it shows that they have some credibility and responsibility to their users.
I was actually going to sign up for it and run through it but I have obviously signed up with quite a few of these retailers in a research capacity over the years so I definitely won’t be able to get to the end of the 20 Cogs.
So, I guess this one is your call – you have the information now. It would be great to think that this is a good opportunity to earn a bit of cash and people are benefitting from it.
If you have any experience with 20 Cogs or any other similar company I would love to hear from you in the Comments Section below – all comments will be answered.

Hello there, it’s nice to know one can make some money from 20cog and with the means of earning, I find it really nice and easy to go along with. The fact that its free sign up for new members makes widely available to those in the UK but it’s sad to know those outside the UK can’t benefit from it. When you said you can only complete the 20cog once, does that mean you only get to make the money once? Also how do they generate their own money?
Hi and thanks for your comment. Yes unfortunately this is one of those occasions where it is only available in the UK, this is purely because all of the offers on the COGs site are made by UK based companies and so it just wouldn’t work internationally.
Yes it is only allowed to be completed once as once a new sign-up is registered with their retailers 20 COGS get a commission and obviously a person can’t be registered twice.
Hope this answers your questions and thanks again for taking the time to read our post.
Sadly, this is only registered to the UK residents alone. I thought this could be a good chance for me to make some extra cash share. It looks to me like after one finishes the cigs, the account will no longer be able to earn except through referral, how much do they pay for referral since there is no payment for joining initially.
Hi Riley, yes that’s correct a person can only do 20 Cogs once. The reason being that 20 COGS are paid a commission by the retailers featured on their site every time a new person registers for the retailer’s offer. Obviously a person can’t register twice so they wouldn’t pay a commission to 20 COGS twice.
Once it’s completed 20COGS do pay for referrals and this is 5% of what the referral makes when they complete their 20 COGS.
I hope this answers your questions and thank you very much for reading our post!
