What is Wealthy Affiliate and Will it Work For Me?

What Design/Website Skills Do I Need Before I Can Do This?

I always thought it was too difficult to build a website and that I would need a specialist design course but within 30 seconds whilst doing Lesson Three I had a live website up and running! Two Types of Training – the Choice is Yours

Get ready to take your first steps in building your very own online business.

There are two types of training offered and it’s completely up to you which one you decide to do, or you can do both.  You get the bug and it gives you a new lease of life, wait and see!

Both types of training are taught on a step by step platform – as you work through each module you are working on your own live website so in each module you are actually adding more and more to it. It’s coming to life without you even realising it.

The tasks push you, as you can’t move on to the next lesson until the tasks are complete but I found this to work great for me – that type of system pushes me to work faster than I normally would because I always want to know what’s in the next lesson. 4 Key Stages – What Are They?

1. What Will Your Niche Be?

As I said at the beginning – firstly to start an online business in affiliate marketing you need to choose a niche – a niche is the subject you would like your business to specialise in.  Ideally you will choose something that you’re interested in or a hobby that you enjoy.  This would make it easier and obviously you already know quite a bit about the subject.

For instance, you could choose Fitness as your niche if this is something that you do in your spare time or fine tune it down to something like Yoga or Nutrition if this is more of a specific interest.

Your niche shouldn’t be too broad but then on the opposite scale it shouldn’t be too concentrated either which would leave you limited on the amount of information you can share.  You want to be able to help visitors and give them up to date, useful information.

If you have trouble choosing a niche Wealthy Affiliate cover this at the very beginning of the training and help you with links to lists, they give you the tools that you need to come up with your own niche – there are literally millions of niches to choose from so don’t worry if you cannot think of anything immediately – very quickly you will find that you have a number of options you would like to explore.

2.  I can’t build a website!

This is the beauty of Wealthy Affiliate and what I’m most impressed with- anybody can build a website using the training – you will have a “live” website by Lesson 3!

I always wanted an online business but just looking into the different aspects of building a website confused me completely – I had no clue where to start so I never did (start).

Whether you decide to join as a free starter member or upgrade to a Premium membership you still have the first ten lessons either way and access to a whole host of features to enable you to get started.

You may or may not know that to have a live website you have to have a hosting platform for it, a server to enable your website to be accessible by the public – a little bit like a mobile phone – without choosing a mobile network all you have is a phone which is useless if you can’t use it to communicate.  It’s basically storage space on the internet for your website to operate.

Website hosting normally costs money – it can cost quite a bit actually depending on what type of website hosting that you choose, it can be anything from £5 per month up to £350 plus.

CONFUSED?  I was too when I first looked into setting up my first website on my own.

3. What? I have to write CONTENT? 

OK, this is the most important bit – but don’t worry, you have so much support to help you succeed.

People will visit your site because they are interested in your chosen niche and usually they want answers, whether it’s a review on a certain product, your recommendation or to learn more about that subject.  However, they don’t want it to read like a text book.  They can buy a book for that from Amazon!

They want your opinion in your own words.  You need to type how you speak – reach out to the visitor and connect with them, make them feel as if you are speaking personally to them.  As if you are explaining it to a friend or family member.

Wealthy Affiliate offers no end of help and support in this area.  If you’re stuck for ideas on content or titles, need feedback on what you have produced or general advice on certain aspects of your content then all you need to do is ask!  There is oodles of training available around keywords, good content, attention grabbing titles etc.

4. What about the cash??   

OK, so the whole reason you are actually reading this and contemplating ways to earn money online is all about the cash.

You will learn in the step-by-step lessons how to apply affiliate links to your blogs or your website in general. You will also learn how to use social media links, how to join affiliate link programs and how to work with Google.

Google has a service which is called Google Analytics which is a fantastic program which can be set up for free.  This allows you to analyse your data for your website, ie. number of visitors to your site, length of visit etc.  This will enable you to monitor the performance of your content.
